MEDLEMSANMELDELSE

Prey

Background:
I love stealth games and have played some in the recent years. The interest for this genre was catalyzed after playing Alien: Isolation which for me is a masterpiece. I have also played Metal Gear Solid 5: The phantom pain and love it. So based on the notion of stealth my expectations for Prey was skyhigh. I did not play the former game and it is a relief to know that there is no connection between them. I always buy games after a thorough investigation. Most gaming sites gave it a good verdict and after watching some Let`s play videos on YouTube I decided to buy it. Right now I have played about 30 hours on normal difficulty so I feel like I have a good foundation to write a review.

Gameplay:
I play the game on PC with Xbox 1 Controller. It is very well ported from the console version and everything run smooth. The quick menu is reachable by pressing X where you can quickly choose weapons or abilities. The main menu is self-explanatory and everything is logically placed. The good thing is also the opportunity to quick save and has saved me several times before and after intense battles where you barely win. I noticed no glitches but sometimes my character was stuck when trying to crawl down a shaft. One time I noticed that my character was kind of unbalanced when walking and I thought is was a bug. But I found later that it was because of radiation. After taking pills the walking was more balanced. You can crawl and hide behind Objects. I missed the kind of hiding as was in Alien: Isolation. Everything can be investigated and active exploring will reward you. There are many ways to get into locked rooms so better look around for clues. The fighting sequences are oftentimes intense so you will have to plan ahead. And save a lot...

Graphics:
The game is pretty to watch and with all setting on max with 75hz refresh rate it was simply eyecandy. The world in the game is so well designed that you just stop and look around.

Sound:
In a stealth game where you need to pay attention to sounds music is redundant. This is also well implemented in the game and kind of calm you down. When enemies are near you hear sound and get alerted. The poltergeist music was so creepy! And not to mention when The Nightmare haunts you...The tension is everywhere when you try to solve tasks and find your way.

Verdict:
This is a good example of a well ported game. The game mechanics are good but I missed the opportunity to make several assets when using the fabricator. When you use the recycler you can press X to transfer all junk so why not the same mechanism with the fabricator? About stealth I missed the mechanic which we find in Alien: Isolation. The fighting part could be better.

But all in all it is a good game which will give you tons of entertainment.
